5 reasons your small business needs video

We know. We know. We’re video producers…. of course we’re going to advocate for video. We love it!

But hear us out.

YouTube is now the second largest search engine behind Google, with people watching more than a billion hours of video content every day!*

And, in one study we read, 95% of marketers say video has helped increase user understanding of their product or service and 84% of people say they’ve been convinced to buy a product or service by watching a brand’s video.

With stats like these, it’s a no brainer to use video to build awareness of your brand, sell your products and tell your stories.

But if you need more convincing, here are a handful of reasons why our clients use video.

1. Be seen on the socials

It’s likely your audience is on Facebook and Instagram for a chunk of time each day. One way to get them stopping mid-scroll is to put eye-catching video in front of them. Creating original video content that people seek out and engage with helps your reach.

2. Boost those search rankings

Every business wants to be on the first page of Google results, but did you know Google’s algorithms prioritise websites with video content? Video helps your search engine page results by increasing click-through rates and lowering bounce rates (people stay twice as long on a page with a video than one without). And, with conversion rates far higher on websites using video, it makes high quality video content a must for every website.

3. Increase email campaign success

How much do people love video? Well, even just including the word ‘video’ in an email subject line is enough to boost open rates and click-throughs. According to Martech Advisor, including video in emails can boost click rates by 300%! But just remember not to embed the video into the email itself but link through to the video on your website.

4. Help customers help themselves

For many of our small business clients, they are the entire sales and marketing team (along with the finance, IT, admin and management teams). There is little time to even think about talking to prospective customers. Which means that the more they can educate their prospects about their products and services, the better. Video content makes that easy. And as a bonus, looking at the viewer stats around those videos can tell which ones are being skipped and which are being watched over and over… so they create more of the content people want.

5. Tell a better story

There’s no better medium for telling the story of your brand than video. Video provides both visual and audio stimulation, which activates different areas of the brain and means viewers are more engaged with the content they’re consuming.

Plus, capturing the stories of your customers and staff is a simple, low-cost way of sharing the brand values you live and breathe. Not to mention the fact that having real people tell in their own words why they love your product or being a member of your team is powerful.

So what are you waiting for?

Whether you’re looking to demo a new product, tell a customer story, share team bios or talk about matters important to your industry, it’s clear that video is the perfect medium to reach the people searching for you.

And naturally, if you need a hand with any of this, give us a call!
